In Indian dance, since time immemorial, was apart and parcel of life. While on the one hand, it had a whole treatise written down called ‘Natya Shastra’ that laid down the basic principles and rules governing the classical forms, on the other in its folk versions, it was a means to celebrate life and express joy. Looking deeply into Indian dance forms also reveals a lot about the science of body movement and how the body can become a beautiful medium to convey a range of feelings.
